Hi,
OX with rubbers means there will be no sponge underneath the top sheet. Long pips with no sponge will create more spin reversal on shots, but can be harder to control. Usually players away from the table chopping prefer long pips with sponge, and players who play close to the table blocking prefer no sponge.

Hello,
OX simply means no sponge attached to the rubber. This is common for long pips rubbers when players wish to play closer to the table.
